Perchless Self Supported Mono Stringer with Integrated Landings

We collaborated with Platinum Signature Homes to design a HUGE wood mono stringer as a feature in one of their grand showhomes. We designed a self-supporting perchless mono stringer with standoff glass railing. The treads of this signature mono stringer are notched into the stringer, eliminating the need for riser posts. This brings cleaner lines and a simpler look as the treads cantilever out of the stringer.

Our perchless mono stringer allows us to offer some really unique design features to our clients. The design gives us the most flexibility when working with mitered stringers and integrated landings. In this case, we used the “waterfall” landing with an integrated bench as a support point for the stringer.

Our design team didn’t stop there. The western/eastern stair to the basement gave us the space to build a custom wine cabinet under the stair. We used 3” thick treads in order to  bring visual consistency from above and allow the same standoff glass railing to be used on both custom stairs.
