Curved White Oak Reno
Curved White Oak Staircase Renovation
People often wonder: what is possible when it comes to major home renovations and staircases? Can you renovate a staircase? What is involved? How much impact will changing the style of a staircase have? Well, we have completely renovated countless staircases and the impact they have in transforming style is profound.
This family completely gutted and renovated a 1980s home in a beautiful Edmonton neighborhood. This home already had a grand front entry, but a staircase stuck in the 1980s. The family wanted a design that would bring warmth, class, and traditional style to the curved staircase.
The general contractor removed the original railing system, leaving just the stringers, plywood treads, and plywood risers. With just the bare bones of the stair standing, we retrofitted it with white oak plywood stringers, solid white oak treads, and white oak plywood risers. Our installers laminated (curved) the white oak railing on site to ensure a perfect fit. Originally, a wall existed beneath the staircase, but this area is now open to the basement with railing, creating a beautiful feature.
This family captured traditional style through their railing selections. This traditional railing package combines white oak handrail with our Tailesian post and a feature spindle. It is stunning!
The homeowners love the end product and are so happy that they included their stairs and railing in the home renovation! Investing in their stairs gave their foyer the facelift it so desperately needed. Their stair no longer dates the home to the 1980s, but instead presents a timeless traditional style that will carry on.
